Munch Factory

I first discovered this charming, family-owned, black-owned restaurant a few years ago while living in the Gentilly neighborhood. Even though they’ve since moved to a larger location, now including a second spot at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, I still make it a point to stop by when I can. So when my good friend visited town and suggested we meet at Munch Factory, I was thrilled to return to this local gem. The restaurant has a peaceful atmosphere and is nestled on a golf course in a historic Black neighborhood. From the moment you walk in, it feels like you’re visiting a family member’s restaurant—everyone greets you as if you’re a long-time friend.

I arrived a bit late but found my friend at a cozy table, giving her a hug as I joined her. The owner’s wife was nearby, and she was just as happy to see us as we were to see each other. She came over to chat with us, making the conversation flow as easily as if we had been friends for years. Though both my friend and I were working remotely at the time, she kindly encouraged us to focus on each other and enjoy the moment, which was easy to do once the food arrived—it quickly became the main focus!LOL!

We enjoyed a selection of great starters including the Lower Garden District Fries topped with a delicious cheese and crawfish sauce, seafood and hot sausage gumbo, which is a dark rue done well, a creamy and well-seasoned Spinach dip, Sweet and Spicy Shrimp which although an appetizer is a filling and delicious option for lunch, and the Blackened Fish which was tasty as it was beautiful. Munch Factory is a great option for lunch or an early dinner 6 days a week. The Munch Factory – Offering Takout & Delivery I hope you enjoy!
